First-season checklistWhat to buy, what's nice to have, and what the team usually provides
Three rules that save money
- Don't buy to grow into. A glove, helmet, or catcher's gear that's too big is harder to use and protects less. Buy for her size now.
- Ask what the team provides. Many teams have bats, helmets, and catcher's gear to share, especially for younger players.
- Match the bat stamp to the league. A bat without the right certification mark can't be used in games, no matter how good it is.
